On Workshop “Step-by-Step Actions of a Potential Franchisee” 30 January 2013 PDF Print E-mail


On 30 January 2013 the Almaty Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted a workshop “Step-by-Step Actions of a Potential Franchisee” for small and medium businesses.

The event was organized as part of pilot implementation activities of the European Project for protection of intellectual property “CASIP-SMEs – IP Services to Enterprises to Support Innovation and Market” funded under the Central Asia Investment Program.

Specialists of the Almaty Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Eurasian Franchising Association, “DAMU” Fund for Enterprise Development and private patent attorneys of Kazakhstan took part in the workshop.

Chairman of Presidium of the Almaty Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr Mukhtarkhan N. Biyarov greeted the workshop participants with a welcome speech.

Deputy Chair of Presidium of the Almaty Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ms Shara Akylbayeva made a presentation on the CASIP-SMEs Project and introduced a new innovation instrument developed by European Partners of the Project and aimed at diagnostics of the state of IP in a company. Now entrepreneurs have a chance to fill up an online questionnaire found on the Project web-site at www.casip-smes.eu, and get results of their diagnostics and recommendations for improvement sent to their e-mail free of charge.

Further on Vice President of Eurasian Association for Franchising Mr Galym Zhukupbayev spoke on “Basic Concepts of Franchising. Advantages of Franchising for Businesses”.

After that a private patent attorney of RK Ms Sholpan Zharkynbayeva made her presentation on “Step-by-Step Actions of a Potential Franchisee”.

After each presentation entrepreneurs discussed the presented subjects.

At the end of the workshop a general discussion and Consultation Session took place where experts in Franchising gave answers to questions of entrepreneurs.

The Workshop organization and Consultation Session was supported by President of Eurasian Franchising Association Mr Beknur Kissikov, author of a book “Franchising in Kazakhstan”. The Workshop participants had a chance to establish a personal contact with the author, get answers to their questions and buy the book on franchising in Kazakhstan by B.Kissikov.

The Almaty Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to conduct Open Days on a regular basis, once every 2 months in order to improve its work on dissemination of information regarding IP rights among entrepreneurs, improve competitive performance of local small and medium businesses, and promote the development of strong IP culture in Kazakhstan. Franchising will be one of the subjects to be covered during the Open Days.
